Taiko is a fully decentralized ZK-Rollup that is equivalent to Ethereum. Taiko scales Ethereum in a way that closely emulates Ethereum, both technically and non-technically.
Installation and first month payment - $55 per unit. Subscription cost - $30 per month.
Taiko is an Ethereum-equivalent ZK-Rollup that scales Ethereum by supporting all EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) on its layer 2 architecture, which is decentralized, secure, and permissionless.
The biggest limitation of current production ZK-Rollups is that they cannot fully support generalized EVM computations and are mainly focused on specific applications. This compromises compatibility with existing Ethereum L1 smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps) and makes it challenging to create new ones that offer the same composability and expressive capabilities.
Ethereum-equivalent ZK-Rollups, sometimes referred to as ZK-EVMs, are considered a "holy grail" solution for layer 2 scalability because they don't compromise on either security or compatibility. In the terminology of Taiko, it aims to be a type-1 ZK-EVM, where the priority is given to full EVM/Ethereum equivalence over ZK-proof generation speed.
Taiko consists of three main components: ZK-EVM chains (for proof generation), L2 rollup nodes (for managing the rollup chain), and an L1 protocol (for bridging these two parts and validating the rollup protocol).
